RUTLEDGE.105.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1820-35. William Stevens Smith, who built the house at 101 Rutledge Avenue, constructed this single house sometime before 1837. He conveyed it first to his daughter Henrietta, who married into the Mikell family, and later to another daughter, Juliette. The dwelling, with its nine-over-nine windows and modillioned front end gable, reflects the transitional period between the late Federal style and the advent of the Greek Revival.
