Volumes 4 and 5 of a 6-volume directory of Charleston streets, houses, and buildings, based on research from City Directories. Organized by street and then alpha-numerically by address. Each street section includes a brief history of the street itself; each address includes a history of ownership of the property. Intended to be a resource for the start of research; the information is not conclusive and may even sometimes be inaccurate by the authors' own admission. Volumes IV and V contain streets beginning with E-F-G-H-I-J (East Battery, East Bay, Elizabeth, Elmwood, Elliott, Exchange, Franklin, Fulton, Gadsden, George, Gibbes, Glebe, Gordon, Grove, Halsey, Hanover, Huger, Immigration, John).
