RUTLEDGE.071.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1831. Elizabeth Corbett, a niece of Elizabeth Harleston, whose family still owned much of this area in the early-19th century, built this 3-story weatherboarded house in the early 1830s. Modified in the Greek Revival period with a front entry and later with changes including French doors on the piazza side and two-over-two windows, the house retains its spacious lot. Owned for many years by the family of Judge Theodore Jervey, the building was occupied by the Braid family in the 20th century.
File contains FOHG house history (undated); newspaper article (1975); historical/chain-of-title research notes (undated, unattributed); garden plan (unattributed, undated, no indication of status), with accompanying photos (copies).
