Four-part seminar entitled "Furnishing the Federal House," presented by Historic Charleston Foundation in order to shed light on the interpretation of the Nathaniel Russell House: Part 1: "The Charleston Evidence," presented by Tom Savage. Discusses the importance of researching and reevaluating the interiors of Federal homes to make them more suited to the Federal era, referencing the Nathaniel Russell House. Part 2: "Textiles in Federal New England," presented by Jane Nylander. Part 3: "Living in Boston's Fine Federal Mansions," presented by Richard Nylander. Discusses the similarities of the home furnishings of Boston, and Charleston by analyzing a variety of sources. Part 4: "Living Well is the Best Revenge," presented by Wendy Cooper. Discusses the ways by which scholars learn about the lives of the residents of historic homes by analyzing interiors, furniture, and furnishings. NOTE: Video stops abruptly at 29 minutes. 4 DVDs Part 1: 38 min. Part 2: 78 min. Part 3: 72 min. Part 4: 29 min. (original total time 82 min., video cuts off abruptly after 29 min.)
