Cypress Gardens, covering 250 acres, is a water garden with giant cypress trees growing in lakes which once served as a reservoir for a great rice plantation. Most visitors enjoy riding through the garden in small boats, but many like to stroll leisurely along part or all of the 5-mile perimeter walk. The dark waters of the lake reflect the beauty of flowers along the bank. Camellias are featured in winter, but the real color spectacle begins in spring with azaleas, dogwood, and spring bulbs. Cypress Gardens is open from February 15 to May 1.Lexicon
