SMITH.052.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1850; restored 1979. Ettsel Adams, a partner in Adams and Frost Commissions, built this town house around 1850 for rental or resale while living next door at 29 Montagu Street. Italianate detailing, including window and door heads as well as the double arched windows in the front arched gable end, cover earlier late-Greek Revival features. Original survivals include curious dentiled belt courses and cornice, as well as the double-tiered Tuscan columned piazzas. Arcaded, Italianate style chimneys emerge from the roof on the south elevation.
