STATE.010.1Scope and Content
Constructed by 1794. Three-story rectangular, stuccoed masonry structure with a hipped standing seam metal roof (Part 1 certification application). Building had been owned by Daniel Hart, a Sephardic merchantman. It was apparently gutted and rebuilt after a fire swept through the block in 1810 (Buildings of Charleston).
Three files contain documentation of the easement on the property including related correspondence and Confirmation of Understanding; Part I certification (National Register); easement appraisal report; historical research (scant); entry from 1973 SC Architectural Inventory; Sanborn Maps (1884, 1888, 1902, 1951).
Files may eventually contain additional documentation such as annual inspection reports; requests for alterations; correspondence related to the management of the property; correspondence and other documentation related to the sale of the property; historical research; etc.
