B&W photograph of the Pineapple Gates, 14 Legare Street (Simmons-Edwards House). Labeled on back: "Charleston is famous for its gateways which lead into private gardens adjacent to some of the famous old homes. Shown above is the Pineapple Gateway so named because of the ornaments atop each of the four pillars." Also labeled: "On Tour D of Legare Street are the magnificent gates to the gardens of the Simmons-Edwards House, now the home of Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Howard. These gardens were laid out about 1830 on one of the original lots of Charleston's 'Grand Model" of 1672." Two copies of photo in sleeve.
