Sheraton Wheel Barometer/Thermometer, London, c. 1810, L. Stampa (Stamper?) & Co. (London 1800-1820). Shell inlay.
Neoclassical barometer/ thermometer made of mahogany, mahogany veneer with satinwood and possibly ebony inlay. Piece has broken pediment, square neck and tapered neck to swollen "belly", terminating in a rounded lobe above dial. Circular medallion at neck is inlaid with a daffodil. Thermometer is inset into elongated arch Two inlaid shells (whelks) flank base of thermometer and are centerd in first "swell". The dial of the barometer is in meddle belly of the case. Face is cream colored metal with engraving of name. The shorter hand is brass with arrow at end. The longer hand is black with arrow at one end. and crescent at terminus. Circular medallion is centered in lobed base, with floral decoration. Body has thin satinwood inlay traced at edge of case.Collection
