Constructed between 1750-1785; alterations ca. 1880, late 19th century, 1960s; partial restoration and rehabilitation 1998. A three and one-half story brick Charleston single house covered with stucco. One of the few surviving 18th century dwellings with a jerkinhead or clipped gable-style roof. (Part I certification application)
Three files contain documentation of the easement on the property including related correspondence and Confirmation of Understanding; Part I certification (National Register); annual inspection reports, requests for alterations, and correspondence related to the management of the property; brief narrative histories (HCF staff, undated); architectural description from Architectural Guide to Charleston (by Simons & Thomas); data sheet for CharlestonWISE Impact Project (Sustainability Institute) that includes construction date, square footage, number of stories, building orientation, system materials/types, Sanborn Map research notes, and additions/alterations notes (Mariah Schwartz, 2011); photocopies of historic deeds, plats, and ward book entries.
