Constructed ca. 1740; renovated 1975. George Ducat, a shipbuilder, erected this 2½ story house of brick and Bermuda stone shortly after purchasing the property in 1739. Like many Charleston dwellings, the house was enlarged in the mid-19th century by attaching the kitchen dependency to the main house; the double-tiered piazza was added in this period as well.
