Description

Flight, Barr and Barr (1803-1840) Bowl with cover Worcester, England c. 1813 Procelain with gilt. Stamped on underside: Flight, Barr and Barr Part of 'japan' pattern service, cover molded with foliage enriched in gilding, with flower head finial. The English ceramics firm Flight Barr & Barr made lavishly decorated tableware for its distinguished patrons. This bowl and cover, with its Japanese-style Imari pattern, is one piece of a large dinnerware set owned by Thomas Lowndes (1766–1843), father of Harriet Lowndes Aiken (1812–1892). It descended in the Aiken-Rhett family.
