Description

Flight, Barr and Barr (1803-1840) Circular soup plate/bowl Worcester, England c. 1813 Porcelain with gilt. Stamped on underside crown over Flight, Barr and Barr. The English ceramics firm Flight Barr & Barr made lavishly decorated tableware for its distinguished patrons. This bowl, with its Japanese-style Imari pattern, is one piece of a large dinnerware set owned by Thomas Lowndes (1766–1843), father of Harriet Lowndes Aiken (1812–1892). It descended in the Aiken-Rhett family.
