Scope and Content

Constructed ca. 1818. This imposing stucco-faced masonry building occupies a large parcel of land at the southeast corner for Legare and Tradd Streets. Four files contain documentation of the easement on the property including related correspondence and Confirmation of Understanding; "Qualified Conservation Contributions" memorandum recommending against taking tax deductions (1982); annual inspection reports, requests for alterations, and correspondence and other documentation related to the management of the property including architectural drawings; legal documentation related to the enforcement of the easement (HCF v. Sword Gate Inn Associates, 1994); FOHG house histories (two from 1980s?, 1995); Swordgate Inn card; document providing background of the easement (2010); newspaper articles; correspondence and documentation related to zoning and the operation of 111 Tradd Street as an inn.
