LOGAN.003.1Description
B&W photograph of the Fannie Werner House (3 Logan Street), east (front) elevation.
Constructed 1902. The English architect Richard Norman Shaw popularized the Queen Anne movement that borrowed heavily from late-medieval models. Many characteristics of this style are evident in the house built for Fannie Werner, including the triple-columned front portico with spindle-work balustrade, the double-tiered bay windows with diamond-work upper sashes, the closed front gable with ornamental trim, and the double-tiered side piazza with the unusual bowed front. The wrought-iron front fence features the lyre pattern popular in Charleston during the latter years of the 19th century. (Poston, Buildings of Charleston.)Collection
