Dressing chest, Charleston, South Carolina, third quarter 18th century, mahogany, having rectangular molded top above four long graduated cockbeaded drawers, top drawer fitted with concealed divided interior having wood liners with original covers, on leaf carved molded base, on scroll feet, signed on underside of bottom with initials 'IW' and 'DW P', probably Isaac and Dwight Porcher. Secondary wood cypress and poplar. Descended in Porcher-Ravenel family of Charleston, SC.Collection
