LOGAN.011.1Description
B&W photograph of the Maria Wilson House (11 Logan Street), east (front) elevation. Cast-iron gate and fence in foreground.
Constructed 1882. Mrs. Wilson conservatively chose the Charleston single house style for her new residence in 1882. Distinguishable from antebellum examples by its one-over-one sashes, Italianate style piazza door architrave, and flat hooded window heads, the Wilson House, like its other postbellum neighbors, employs a setback to create a front yard. A Victorian cast-iron fence separates this space from the sidewalk. (Poston, Buildings of Charleston.)Collection
