Constructed 1885. A member of a large family of German tradesmen purchased seven of nine lots subdivided from the city-owned "Hospital Land" in the mid-1880s. In the 18th century this area was the site of a public hospital largely for the insane. All of the dwellings on these lots were built contemporaneously and were similarly designed with Queen Anne detailing and single house plans. One property was purchased separately by Fredericka Martin. Herman Rosebrock built a substantial corner store on the seventh lot at Logan and Magazine Streets.
