WARREN.084-92.1Scope and Content
84 Warren Street (also referred to as 86 Warren Street) was constructed ca. 1840; restoration 1970s-1990s. The brother-in-law of Samuel Mills, Lawrence A. Edmondston, built this two-story dwelling. Although the original entry faced Smith Street, the present Warren Street elevation retains its original double-tiered piazzas with Ionic columns. Like its neighbor, the building has unusual flush boarded siding and a modillioned cornice over a wide undecorated frieze. Neglected for several decades, 86 Warren was gradually restored over several years. (Poston, Buildings of Charleston.)
Two files contain legal documentation of the covenant on the property; correspondence and other documentation related to the sale and management of the property; annual inspection reports; requests for alterations; inspection photos; HCF easement information cards (TMS number, year of construction, significant resident(s), deed research, deed restrictions, measurements, and tax information); copy of tax map with annotations indicating intended demolition of structures on the lots (Frances Edmunds, undated).
See Covenant/Easement Inspection Photo Files for inspection photography.
