HCF.005.5Scope and Content
Historic Charleston Foundation's Energy Conservation Improvement Program was created to provide energy efficiency for 112 of Charleston's older homes of elderly and low-income residents. The Program was created in partnership with the City of Charleston's Office of Housing and Economic Development. Through a grant from the department, storm doors and windows, weather-stripping, infiltration barriers, and insulation for attics and floors were installed at no cost. The project monitor was M.E. Van Dyke.
Documentation consists of an overview of the program; statistics for each house regarding weatherization costs and savings, and age of participants; and a description of each house's areas of improvement, estimated savings, and rebates. Descriptions are arranged by street address. Each file includes a B&W photograph of the house and many include the program application to the City of Charleston.
