154 Wentworth Street (Henry Muckenfuss House)Entry/Object ID
WENTWORTH.154.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1836. Elegant in its simplicity of detail, 154 Wentworth shows the influence of the Greek Revival style on Charleston architecture. The 2-story house, originally only one room deep, presents a double-tiered piazza supported by Tuscan columns to the street. Henry Muckenfuss, a mason, lived here until 1845, when he purchased a larger house at 122 Wentworth Street. The dwelling subsequently passed through many different owners until 1950, when it was converted into a medical office and a 2-story addition was added to the rear.
