SEASIDE.01Scope and Content
Located on a 13.9 acre tract of property on the southeastern corner of Seaside Plantation on James Island, which includes the Sandiford Bee House, built in 1908 to replace an earlier structure. The Bee House is a 1½ story, square frame dwelling built on piers and covered with weatherboarding. It has a metal hipped roof with shed dormers, with exposed roof rafters at the eaves of the structure under the roof, and a south-racing screened porch and two central brick chimneys. (Archaeological report, Trinkley, 2000.) Historic Charleston Foundation has an exterior easement on the Bee House and open space easements on six lots. Open space easement prohibits future subdivisions or development.

Three files contain documentation of the easement on the property and related correspondence (Conservation Easement, Subordination of Mortgage, Confirmation of Understanding, IRS form 8283); requests for alterations and correspondence related to the management of the property; "conceptual approval" letter for 1050 Sea Eagle Watch; newspaper listing of sale of property (undated); SC Statewide Survey Form; archaeology reports ("Archaeological survey of a Portion of the Pruitt Tract, Seaside Plantation" [Trinkley, 2000] and "Phase I Archaeological Survey of Lot B, 1197 Sea Eagle Watch, Seaside Plantation" [New South Associates, 2004]).
Files will eventually contain additional documentation such as annual inspection reports; requests for alterations; documentation of the sale of the property; historical research; etc.
