EBAY.276.1Scope and Content
Located between Hasell and Pritchard Streets on the east side of East Bay Street, once a place of industry, today it is the home of SunTrust Bank and the Ansonborough Inn. The current Mid-Century Modern style building was designed by Augustus E. Constantine, constructed from 1965-1966. The building has Art Deco and Classical references: rounded reflective windows, large recessed windows on the ground floor, columns and pilasters referencing temples of the past, and Romanesque arches. The exterior is brick veneer with white stucco "teasing out" the columns and pilasters.
File contains graduate student report (Haley Schriber, 2014) on the history of the building, which includes historical and chain-of-title research, maps, photos, and other supporting documentation.Collection
