Facsimile of Sir Henry Clinton's 1780 Map of Charles Town. Superimposed at the bottom left corner is a text box entitled "A Sketch of the Operations Before Charles town, the Capital of South Carolina," which provides an index to the locations of "fortifications outworks and ships of the enemy under the command of Lieutenant General Lincoln" (forts -- on Mount Pleasant -- on Lemprier Point -- enemy's ships and vessels -- on Sullivans Island -- encampments and approaches -- the general officers quarters -- encampments, the King's ships under the command of Vice Admiral Mariot Arburthnot -- redouts and approaches to batteries). Another superimposed text box shows a detail of the Charleston Harbor, featuring Charles Town, Mount Pleasant, Sullivans Island, part of James Island, Hog Island, and Shutes Folly.Collection
