Framed public notice/letter from F.S. Rodgers, Chairman of the Board of Fire Master, to the officers and members of the Charleston Fire Department, dated September 13, 1886, praising them for their success at controlling and extinguishing the fires caused by the 1886 earthquake and for their service. Originally presented to HCF in a wooden frame with carved leaf design along the borders. (Document removed from frame and placed in protective sleeve; backing discarded; frame retained.)
