Description

Two hundred twenty-six (226) B&W photographs of the exterior and interior of the Aiken-Rhett House, taken December 1993 when the house was operated by The Charleston Museum as a museum house. Photographs include ceilings; doors, doorways, and doorknobs; light fixtures and chandeliers; outbuildings; decorative plaster ceiling ornaments; walls; various pieces of furniture in the house including piano; art work in the house including sculpture and painting of Henrietta Aiken; stairs, staircases, and balusters; windows, window surrounds, and window shutters; fireplaces and mantels; architraves and cornices; arches; and floors. The house is decorated for Christmas and there are tourists in a very few shots.

Context

Includes negatives. Photos arrived in 6 envelopes. They are now housed in 42 photographic sleeves, distinguished by envelope number to keep each set together with its negatives.
