62 Logan Street (Trenholm's Tenement)Entry/Object ID
LOGAN.062.1Scope and Content
Constructed ca. 1870, located within original Lot #275 of the Grand Modell of Charles Towne. The wooden dwelling that once stood on the lot that is now 62 Logan was destroyed by a large fire in 1861. Its owner sold the property to George Trenholm, a cotton broker, financier, slave trader, and Treasurer of the Confederacy, who bought a mortgage for the property from James T. Welsman, who had purchased adjacent lot, now known as 60 Logan Street, and likely constructed the two brick buildings at the current day 60 and 62 Logan, used as rentals.
62 Logan Street was previously referred to as 4 Mazyck Street (c. 1870-1888), 10 Mazyck Street (1888-1919), and 30 Logan Street (1919-1944).
