Scope and Content

The lot on which the current building stands has a history of use as a foundry, including Eason Iron Works. It was constructed in 1911 and is an expansive two-story brick building, encompassing the footprint of its current lot. It has a rectangular floor plan, with 616 paired windows and a flat roof. Built in the Greek revival style with a brick gable facade on the Columbus street side and a simple flat wall on the Nassau street side.The building has undergone major renovations, and with replacements to windows, windowsills, doors and much of the wall fabric. It is currently used as apartment rentals. File contains graduate student report (Victoria McCollum, 2016) on the history of the building/property, which includes historical and chain-of-title research, maps, photos, and other supporting documentation; early advertisement for Eason Iron Works (source not indicated); biographical information on James Monroe Eason (author not indicated); description of Eason Iron Works (source not indicated).
