SOUTH.063.1Scope and Content
Constructed sometime between 1853 and 1872. 63 South Street is a typical two-story Charleston single house with a wooden frame structure with a brick foundation. The house was oriented so the gabled end of the roof faced the street. The exterior walls originally were covered in weatherboard. The screened piazza was contained on the right elevation measuring approximately 7' by 30'. The railings on the piazza are simple square balusters with unadorned square columns. The roof of the piazza is a shed roof with a parapet at the street facing portion of the house.
File contains graduate student report (Kristina Poston, 2016) on the history of the building/property, which includes historical and chain-of-title research, maps, photos, and other supporting documentation.Collection
