"A.M. Aiken," son of David, is written on the back of the chest, however. A chalk drawing of a sofa or settee profile is also on the back. This profile appears to be that of a sofa remaining in the Aiken-Rhett House.

Mahogany veneer having swing mirror in wide molded frame flanked by tapered turned supports with ball finials, over rectangular superstructure having center long drawer flanked by two short drawers, over rectangular top with rounded corners, over three long graduated drawers with knob handles, on turnip feet; case having rounded sides. Primary woods, mahogany and mahogany veneers; secondary woods, white pine and poplar.
