Scope and Content

Constructed ca. 1800. One of numerous small wooden houses that formerly lined upper Meeting Street, the Strobel House was built by one of Charleston's prominent mechanic families in 1800. though threatened with demolition, it was retained on its original site and later restored as an office. (Poston, Buildings of Charleston.) File contains graduate student report (Cana Marks, 2017) on the history of the building/property, which includes historical and chain-of-title research, maps, photos, and other supporting documentation; 1886 Earthquake damage assessment; Hurricane Hugo damage assessment.
