Description

View of the wrought iron gates at St. Michael's Church (80 Meeting Street). National Register Historic Landmark plaque on left brick post; church information plaque on right brick post. Caption taped to back (removed): "This handsome pair of wrought iron gates to St. Michael's Churchyard is one of two matching sets erected when the churchyard wall was repaired in 1840. Both gates were made by J.A.W. Iusti, one of Charleston's famous iron workers and have long been admired for the delicate tracery and symmetrical pattern of their construction."
