Constructed ca. 1839-1848. The house at 33 Hanover Street is a simple worker's residence built on a portion of a tract of land owned by Richard Dereef. Dereef sold the half of the tract that fronts Hanover Street to Edward Baxter, a free Black man, in 1839.
