Scope and Content

In 2014-2015, Katherine Pemberton attended many meetings about Johns Island resources and building relationships within the African American community. One project was assisting in the reimagining and redevelopment of the Progressive Club and the identification of historical resources in Johns Island. File 1: Contains documentation of related to the Progressive Club including notes (KP), Esau Jenkins notes, two grant request letters for the operation of the Progressive Club (1964, 1965); Progressive Club Subcommittee meeting minutes; Statement of Significance; copy of the National Register Nomination. File 2: "Johns Island Historic Resources Inventory" (draft); meeting notes; various Johns Island maps.
