Over the years, Historic Charleston Foundation has been advocates for historic preservation in numerous ways including:
Attendance and participation in public (City) meetings, speaking in favor of or opposition to requests brought before the Board of Architectural Review, Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Planning Commission, and to matters coming before City Council.
Writing formal position statements and "white papers" on critical preservation issues.
Active involvement in an advisory capacity with City personnel, home and building owners, architects, etc., on a variety of projects and issues.
Initiating legal challenges to violations or misinterpretation of ordinances, and to violations of its easements.
Advocating for smart and appropriate new development.Collection
