Revolving Fund Programs: Neighborhood Impact Initiative

Name/Title

Revolving Fund Programs: Neighborhood Impact Initiative

Entry/Object ID

HCF.005.8a

Scope and Content

Unlike earlier area preservation and rehabilitation programs in previous decades where the focus was architecturally significant and unique properties, HCF shifted its focus to join historic preservation with urban decay and social justice. Established by by Jonathan Poston, HCF's Director of Preservation at the time, the Neighborhood Impact Initiative sought to rehabilitate individual houses in the Uptown; encourage home ownership for low- and moderate-income individuals; and sell homes to people with connections to the neighborhood to discourage gentrification. See Container List for index to files.
