Arranged around the river systems that were the life's blood of plantation life: Ashley and Cooper Rivers System; Santee River System with Eutawville; Edisto Island with Edisto River System; Waccamaw and Pee Dee Rivers Systems with Black Mingo; and Port Royal Sound. The book is both a survey of Low Country architecture and a history of the men and women who lived, worked, and worshipped there.
