Description

Four photographs of Charleston waterfront scenes: a: Circa 1926 view of Concord Street looking south from Cordes Street, from an elevated bridge that used to be at the intersection of Concord and Vendue Range. Clyde Line terminal at left. Several railroad tracks run up the street. Miscellaneous buildings at right. b: Unidentified pier by the railroad tracks. Railroad cars on the track. Terminal building at center. Ship docked at pier. "11-R-X" written into the photo at bottom left. c: Photograph of Union Pier featuring a view looking east showing Utilities Commission Buildings No. 1 and No. 2 and two ships, one docked at the pier and one in the harbor. At right, dock workers pull goods toward Building No. 1, a few cars and a large pile of tires. At left are what appear to be stacks of bricks or blocks. Railroad tracks and trains are between the two buildings. d: View of the Lawrence ferry docked at the terminal. The ferry was one of two that went to and from Mount Pleasant. Possibly located at one of the wharves near current day site of the Harris Teeter.
