From convservation report by Christine Thomson of the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities Conservation Center (1995):
The structure of both mirrors is generally sound except for a few areas of delaminating wood which forms the decorative elements. These areas of delamination include the lower PR and upper PL corner elements on the left side mirror, and the upper PL and PR corners on the right side mirror, as well as some areas of more minor delamination on both frames. The gilded surface is not the original, and is lifting and flaking off down to the wood in areas. The mirrors show some signs of cloudiness and delamination of the silvering, but are generally in good condition. They appear to be the originals as do the back boards. The hanging mechanisms are in good condition and do not require replacement at this time.General Notes
