Description

FIGURE OF DIANA MISSING 2012 One of a pair of gas wall brackets/sconces, c. 1857-1859. Heavy Base with Rear Projections For Attaching To Wall and Side Arms To Hold Decorative Gas Fixtures. Brass Finial At Bottom with Ring Attached At the Center of the Intersection of Arms Andrear Projection. Above the Lower Finial Is a Round Pedestal To Which a Small Brass Figure of a Female figure is attached. "Diana" stands on one Leg with other leg in Air and Holds a Cup Or Stand in Her Right Hand. In Left Arm She Holds a Staff With a Pineapple and Ribbon Finial. Draped Fabric Hands From Right Shoulder and Over Left Arm. The staff and finial are separate from main statue and simply pass through the hand. At outside edge of each side arm a short pedestal of brass (containing the gas valve supports a large brass Aladdins lamp with handle at rear and gas jet at spout. Pressed brass globe holder with three screws. Floral back plate of cast brass. Electrified.
