Description

B&W photograph of Rodenberg's [grocery store], street (front) elevation, located at 569 Rutledge Avenue. View of the street corner -- the northwest corner of Rutledge Avenue and Sumter Street. Signage for pies, mayonnaise, lard, milk, waffles, juice, and fryers posted in the window. Also features a bicycle parked against the right side of the building; a pickup truck carrying baskets of produce parked on Sumter Street; and two women walking on the sidewalk.

Context

According to the donor, "this building was later bulldozed and replaced with a Food Lion when Food Lion was still a series of tiny grocery stores, and that building itself later was redone." (Currently the site of the Nehemiah Lodge fraternal organization.)
