Description

Slant-top desk, made of mahogany, secondary wood is poplar or cypress. made in two pieces. on back in chalk is: Benj Franklings Desk 1775 Upper section: dovetail side construction , lock H:.813," old central lock; 2.25", five sections, brass rings on exterior, flat straight head screws Lower section: corner blocks at top where top sits on "new"nails, nails on left and right sides are handmade irregular nails. some pegged construciton. Two odd columns flanking one large door constructed to look like two panels, panels are raised. mortise/tenon construction, there are four interior rounded peg hooks.
