One of a pair of George III Japanned Armchairs Pair of English, George III, Black Jappaned Arm Chairs C.1800. Regency. with Round Caned Seats and Truned Front Legs Terminating in Bulb Feet. Upper Horizontal Splat Below Crest Rail with Three Cout Out Ovals. Lower Horizontal Splat With X Cross. Arms Extend From Turned Back Supports with Octagonal Top Members and Rest on Turned Arm Supports. Chairs Painted Black with Gilt Decoration on Splats, Arm Suppports Back Supports and Front Legs.

One Chair Has Completely Crumbled From Worm Damage and Is in Three Pieces, Both Have Extensive Paint Loss.

Chairs were owned by Mrs. R. Dewar Bacot, who originally lent them to the NR House in 1960 and lived at 140 Broad Street. She died on November 24, 1962. The chairs were left to Mr. and Mrs. deRosset Myers.
