Description

Rectangular form cover for serving dish (bottom has been lost); "Japan" pattern. Gilt around bottom edge; foliate design depicting orange-brown tree branch with tiny purple and gilt flowers; a pink tree stump(?) with gilt knots surmounting green leaves and bamboo with blue flowers with pink centers. The top of the domed top is embellished with a gilt floral finial surrounded by a ring of gilt-outlined, molded leaves. Birds and dragonflies inhabit the foliage.

This dome is in excellent condition with minor losses to the gilding around the bottom edge and the top of the finial. The inside rim shows signs of age-appropriate wear. Three minor discolorations are evident inside the dome. Parts Missing: None
