Federal Pilaster

Description

Wood and compo pilaster from the historic building located at 292 Meeting Street (now demolished). Fluting interrupted at base by reeding. Top (capital level) has applied acanthus leaves. Painted off-white. The acanthus leaves, and other applied decoration, along the top of the item are deteriorating with many pieces missing. Paint is largely preserved except along the capital which does not appear to have been painted the same off-white color. Paint does show some signs of chipping and soiling throughout. Exhibit location (as of summer 2017): Cigar Factory, CDCC, situated on the west side of the MSHP rear hall adjacent to Conservation Lab.
