Painting, "Cymon and Iphigenia," c. 1780 Oil on Canvas, 24.375" diameter Angelica Kauffman (Swiss, 1741-1807) Owned by Nathaniel Russell Middleton, given to his daughter, Miss Alicia Hopton Middleton, who gave the painting to the Carolina Art Association. The rosettes of the giltwood frame are identical to the rosettes on the mantle in the Drawing Room (NR 203). The inset of the mantle was taken from a print after a painting by Angelica Kauffman.
