B&W photograph (scan) of 69 Wentworth Street, which had been located near the southeast corner of King and Wentworth, street (front) elevation. A small portion of the north elevation of Kerrison's [Dry Goods Building], which had been located at 260 King Street, in background.Context
The building was demolished in 1953 for the construction of a parking lot. In 1833, the large lot was leased for Mrs. John Horlbeck from the vestry of St. Philip's, it being lots 19 and 20 of the land given the church by Afrra Coming in 1698. After the property passed to Dr. Elias Horlbeck from his mother, he built this "large and expansive three-story house" some time before 1849 where he lived for nearly 40 years.
