96 Smith Street (Richard Holloway House): Interior PhotographsEntry/Object ID
SMITH.096.2.1-40Description
Forty-four (44) color digital photographs of interior features of 96 Smith Street (Richard Holloway House). Includes mantels, stair rails, joists and framing, faux-grained wood, plank walls, cistern, etc.
Of interest is the faux graining on the second floor room, which was formerly present in almost every room of the house, and the horizontal and vertical plank walls on the first and second floors of the dependency building. Also extant are the original cistern with cap, rear privy and a pent eave on the dependency building. The house is associated with and likely constructed by Richard Holloway, a prominent free black carpenter in the early 19th century.Collection
