Front: View of the northwest corner elevation of the house. Handwritten caption: "McLeod Residence, James Island near Charleston, S.C."
Back: Postcard addressed to Mrs. A. (Anne) Howard in Dublin from W.E. McLeod, dated Feb. 10, 1931: "We were indeed pleased to receive your nice Christmas card and appreciate your remembering us. We often speak of our trip abroad and the friends we made. We wonder if Finbar remembers us. He is going to be a prominent man. My sister spent one week in a nursing home in London with the abscess on her arm; otherwise we had a delightful trip. Kind regards from all of us. Sincerely, W.E. McLeod."Collection

Notes: From Emer Howard (Emer Howard [howard.emer@gmail.com]) on Feb. 22, 2011. To: Karen Emmons and Julie Hensley (Charleston County PRC).
My name is Emer Howard, my brother Sean was speaking to you today about the photo I have of the McLeod house from 1931, this photo was sent to my grandmother Anne Howard on that date. I don't know the circumstances about how they met and all of my father's family have since died so all I know is that they knew each other even if it was only for a short while. My aunt Constance had a metal box with old photos in it and before she died she asked me to take care of the box because I copied most of the family photos in it and still have them hanging on my wall in the living room and she knew I would take care of them. So, the other day I was looking through the box for old photos to email them to my sister and brother who live abroad and I knew they would get a great laugh at some of them. Now, I have seen this particular photo of the McLeod house lots of times but I never really took much notice of it, I don't think I even read the contents of it until the other day, I think I was more surprised to see my fathers name mentioned (Finbarr) and it surprised me to see the date on it because my father would have been eleven years old at that time. I thought it looked like an old plantation house and mentioned this to my daughter Georgia so we decided to look it up in the internet, I was so pleased to find the house and I recognised it even though it is a side view.
The photo is in good condition and the writing on the back is quite clear even though it is eighty years old. I really hope you like it and it is of some help to you. I would be grateful if you let me know that you have received the email and photo am delighted to have found where it belongs.
