Name/Title

8 Day & 30 Hour Clock

Description

An 8 Day & 30 Hour clock made by the New Haven Clock Co. in New Haven Conn., made around 1850. The clock is made of light wood and is tall and rectangular in shape; directions on how to use the clock are glued to the interior back wall of the piece. It has a white face with painted pink flowers in the corners, one vertical glass door with two panes of glass. Top pane is clear and the bottom pane has a reverse painting of the Greenwood Cemetery Entrance. On the back of this timepiece, written in pencil by Irving Charlton is a list of names. This is how they read on the back of the clock; "GGF Peter Snori (German), GF Fred Snore, F Peter Fredrick Snore, Frank Snore, Ethel Freeman Snore." This information is interpreted as follows however no research has yet been conducted on this theory. The theory is a paternal family tree written on the back by Irving once it was given to him possibly by Frank Snore or Ethel Freeman Snore. GGF stands for Great grand Father and GF stands for Grandfather and F for father. Though no dates are listed, if manufacture date could be determined and any birth or death dates by the above listed names, a more accurate date and possible owner could be determined.
